Our Mission
🧬

Superior Genetics

Sourcing and maintaining world-class pig genetics calibrated to Nigeria's climate and production realities — so every pig we sell outperforms the national average.

📊

Full Traceability

Every animal carries a verifiable identity — dam, sire, date of birth, growth records, and health history — giving buyers complete confidence in what they're purchasing.

🌍

Market Transformation

Supplying producers with genetically superior stock that converts feed efficiently, grows faster, and yields premium carcasses — raising Nigeria's pork quality bar.

🤝

Farmer Partnerships

Building lasting relationships through technical support, breeding advice, and access to premium animals that give every Nigerian pig farmer a genuine competitive edge.

Our Objectives
1

Improve the genetic quality of pigs available to Nigerian farmers through selective breeding using internationally proven bloodlines.

2

Establish robust on-farm record keeping that tracks performance data across generations, enabling evidence-based breeding decisions.

3

Increase piglet survival rates and weaning weights through optimised maternal line selection and farrowing management protocols.

4

Reduce the cost of pork production by supplying breeds with superior feed conversion ratios and faster days-to-market performance.

5

Introduce stress-resistant, high-lean terminal sires to increase carcass quality and satisfy growing demand for premium Nigerian pork.

6

Train and support farmers in modern pig husbandry, biosecurity, and nutrition — translating genetic potential into real outcomes.

7

Make elite breeding stock accessible across Nigeria through a reliable supply of weaners, growers, gilts, and boars from traceable parents.

8

Position BAJ Royal Farm as Nigeria's reference standard for swine genetics, driving sector-wide improvement through example and collaboration.

Our Breeds

Select a breed to explore genetics, performance traits, and economic value.

Duroc
Origin: United States of America
Terminal SirePaternal Elite

The Duroc is the world's premier terminal sire breed — recognised by its red-to-golden-brown coat and outstanding muscularity. Renowned for explosive growth, exceptional feed efficiency, and unmatched intramuscular fat (marbling), the Duroc defines premium pork quality. Duroc-sired progeny consistently reach market weight faster, with superior FCR and dressing percentage, driving down cost per kilogram of quality pork produced.

Economic Value

Duroc sires crossed onto LW or Landrace sows produce commercial pigs reaching market weight in 140–160 days. High IMF content commands price premiums. One boar services 20–25 sows, making genetic upgrade cost per piglet minimal and ROI extremely strong.

Large White
Origin: Yorkshire, England
Dual PurposeMaternal Elite

The world's most widely distributed pig breed and the backbone of commercial swine production globally. Large White sows are outstanding mothers — producing large, uniform litters, nursing with abundant milk, and consistently weaning heavy piglets. As a paternal line, Large White boars pass on excellent length, muscling, and growth rate.

Economic Value

Large White sows deliver more piglets per sow per year than virtually any other pure breed, directly lowering production costs. The Landrace × Large White F1 gilt anchors the most profitable commercial systems in Nigeria.

Pietrain
Origin: Pietrain, Belgium
Terminal SireLean Specialist

The undisputed lean-meat champion of the swine world. BAJ Royal Farm maintains stress-negative (NN) Pietrain lines — eliminating halothane sensitivity and delivering maximum lean yield without meat quality penalties. Used exclusively as a terminal sire to stamp exceptional muscle volume onto all progeny.

Pietrain-sired pigs produce the highest carcass value per animal. Growing urban demand for lean, low-fat pork means Pietrain crosses command significant price premiums in Nigerian markets.

Landrace
Origin: Denmark / Scandinavia
Maternal EliteDam Line

The quintessential maternal breed. Landrace sows are celebrated for prolific farrowing, abundant milk, exceptional mothering instinct, and the lowest pre-weaning mortality of any breed. As an F1 dam crossed with Large White, Landrace produces the most productive commercial sow in the industry.

Landrace sows produce the heaviest, most uniform litters at weaning. The Landrace × Large White F1 gilt delivers more pigs per sow per year than either pure breed alone.

CG36
High-Performance Commercial Dam Line
Elite MaternalHigh Prolificacy

A premium commercial dam line developed through decades of intensive genetic selection for maximum reproductive output and outstanding piglet vitality. A composite of Camborough-type genetics, the CG36 sow is engineered for high total born, exceptional born alive, and superior pre-weaning survival — typically producing 14–16 live piglets per litter under optimal conditions.

📅 Farrowing Date Calculator

Wondering when your sow will farrow (give birth)? Enter the date she was bred or mated and this free tool estimates her due date and the key preparation milestones. A pig's gestation is about 114 days — easy to remember as “3 months, 3 weeks and 3 days.” This calculator uses only the date you type in; it does not show any farm records.

Pick a breeding date above to see the expected farrowing date and milestones.
How it works

The expected delivery date is simply the breeding date plus 114 days. Individual sows can farrow a little earlier or later — the normal range is about 112 to 116 days — so treat the date as a guide and watch for signs of nesting, restlessness and milk as it approaches. For anything unusual, consult your veterinarian.

🧰 Free Pig Tools

Free calculators for any pig keeper — estimate weight without a scale, work out daily growth, and compare your own pigs. Everything here runs in your own browser; nothing you type is saved to the farm's records, and these tools do not show any farm data. Looking for due dates? Try the Farrowing Calculator.

📏 Weight from a tape measure

Wrap a tape around the chest just behind the front legs (heart girth). Add body length (base of ears to base of tail) for the best accuracy, or leave it blank to use the girth-only Kansas State formula.

Units:
Girth + length is accurate to about ±3%; girth-only to about ±4.5 kg for growers ~45–135 kg. Very young piglets and very large stock vary more.

📈 Daily weight gain (ADG)

Log a few weigh-ins for one pig over time and see its average daily gain. Entries stay on this page only.

📊 Compare your pigs

Add each pig with its start and end weight and the number of days between, and the tool ranks them from fastest to slowest growing.

Average daily gain = (end − start weight) ÷ days, shown in grams per day. For reference, commercial finishers often gain 800–1,050 g/day.

📏 Estimate Weight from Tape

No scale needed. Wrap a tape around the chest just behind the front legs (the heart girth). For best accuracy also measure body length from the base of the ears to the base of the tail.
